The Floatation tank and how it works

Once settled in the floatation environment, the individual quickly adapts to the gravity-free conditions. The solution itself is heated to skin temperature, so the brain cannot differentiate between the parts of the body that are below the surface, and those that are not. Essentially, the individuals body "dissolves" into the water.
The buoyancy of the solutions is achieved with the addition of 700lbs of Epsom salts, allowing any individual no matter how big or small, to float effortlessly on the surface. As they have no work to do, every muscle in the body is allowed to relax completely. How To Prepare for Floating

Avoid drinking coffee or black tea and eating for one hour before floating. |
|
The use of drugs or alcohol before floating is not advisable. |
|
Shaving or depilating within three hours of floating is not recommended as the salt water could sting the skin. |
|
Floating is not allowed on a day when you have you period or can
reasonably expect it. |
|
If you have major cuts or scrapes, you can cover them with a special acid-
free gel which we provide. |

Some common questions asked about floating

Is it clean? Extremely. The high salt content of the water means that nothing harmful can live in the float environment, and between each session the full contents of the tank are filtered and purified
the tank is totally clean and sterile environment, immeasurably healthier than a swimming pool or Jacuzzi! |

Will I feel claustrophobic? It is extremely unlikely and Claustrophobia is normally associated with situations where the individual is not in control, such as a lifts, trains, etc. in the float tank, you have control of the door which you can open any time. When people realize that they have total control of the situation, they soon relax. |

Can I drown if I fall asleep? The high buoyancy of the water makes it impossible for the individual to go beneath the surface, once the horizontal, it is only possible for you to touch the bottom of the tank with a great deal of effort. |

Can I have a bad experience? During float session, the individual enters a level of physical and mental relaxation, which is deeper than sleep. However the mind stays awake and dreamily alert. There is absolutely no danger of losing control. |

I'm afraid of the dark. Will it affect my float? No. The tank has an interior light, which can be left on for the duration of the float. |

Will the salts wrinkle and dry my skin? No, the opposite is true. The salts are very beneficial to the skin, leaving it feeling silky and smooth. |

|
Anything else I should know? We advise customers not to shave on the day of a float session. The salt water can sting any freshly shaved skin and will spoil your floatation experience. |
